6 Short Reviews – July 2016

Posted

As started last month I’m trying to play catch-up on a bunch of things I’ve read by doing shorter one paragraph reviews. The last ones seemed to go down well… (Small bit of duplication here from Summer Reads 2016 – apologies!) Hideo Yokoyama – Six Four Don’t be put off by the size – this is a Japanese giant of a cop thriller. A seven-year-old girl disappears in 1989 never to be seen again, in 2002 a press officer finds an anomaly that leads back into the case and threatens to unravel far more that just one kidnapping. Craft Beer – July 2016

Posted

Yeah, I’m getting less creative with the titles, aren’t I? I should start with the arrival in Ireland (in can and on tap) of Stone Brewing beers. Love the IPA and the Arrogant Bastard is very, very impressive… Another couple of things I’m going to tease you with that you probably can’t get (sorry!) are from a trip to London a while back. One from The Craft Beer Co in Clerkenwell, one from Rake in Southwark. There’s also a whole post about the Beavertown pop-up pub I encountered over HERE. Tons of other nice bits and pieces around at the […]

Cat Hogan’s Book Launch

Posted

It was a brilliant night last night in Gutter Bookshop (holy crap, where did all you lot come from?!?!?) and I was honoured to have been launching what will be Cat’s first book of many! They queued, she signed, they adored and many *many* copies were sold… Even Bibi Baskin showed up! There’s even a video if you fancy the watch… Afterwards she sent me home with this: No, you don’t get to see what was in it 🙂 Next stop?
